How a Breaker Decides to Trip
A breaker trips because current exceeded what the circuit can carry safely, or because a fault sent current somewhere it should not go. Resetting it restores power without removing either cause, which is why the safe procedure is to unplug first, reset once, and stop if it trips again.
The distinction between an overload and a fault is what makes the rule sensible rather than arbitrary. An overload is usually the kettle and the heater on the same circuit and is solved by unplugging something. A fault is a damaged cable or a failing appliance, and repeatedly resetting into one is how a nuisance becomes a fire. Kept out of the video entirely is anything that reads as authorisation to open equipment: removing covers, testing circuits, and identifying wiring faults are electrician work regardless of how confident the viewer feels.
