An inverter changes how the compressor runs, not what it does. A non-inverter compressor is either fully on or fully off and holds temperature by cycling; an inverter varies its speed and settles at whatever output the room needs. One runs in steps, the other runs continuously at part load.
Every difference a buyer notices follows from that: the temperature swing, the noise at start-up, the running cost over a long session, and the price on the shelf. Explaining the compressor once removes the need to argue any of them separately.
